THE VALUES BEHIND THE NAME

JOURNAL / DESIGN & CULTURE
An expression of heritage can be recognisable without becoming a replica.
When we think about a place we know well, we often remember more than its visible details. We remember the way light moved through a courtyard, the coolness of a surface or the sound of people nearby. These experiences can become starting points for contemporary design.
An arch may become a curve in a modern entrance. The rhythm of a carved surface may inform a restrained pattern. The warmth of a familiar room may influence colour and light. Translation allows an idea to move into a new context while keeping something of its original character.
Stone, timber, metal and fabric each bring their own associations. Used thoughtfully, they can create depth without requiring a large number of decorative elements. The relationship between materials often tells a stronger story than the quantity of detail.
People use spaces and websites differently today. A design that draws from heritage still needs to meet present needs: comfortable movement, readable information, accessible controls and a clear sense of place. Cultural expression becomes more convincing when it belongs naturally to the experience.
MaulaJut’s manifesto describes heritage as something to celebrate, evolve and share. The visual exploration follows that direction. It draws on enduring values without reducing the brand to a single place or story, leaving room for new interpretations and future settings.
